Getting Started

The first hour of PokeOne, from account creation to your first catches and story battles.

Updated Mar 16, 2026

Starting Your Account

Your account begins in Kanto. The first-time flow is simple:

  1. Run /start.
  2. Finish the intro prompts.
  3. Run /pick and choose your starter.
  4. Open /task and complete the current story step.

If you ever lose track of what comes next, /progress and /task view are the two commands that matter most.

Understanding Story Flow

PokeOne is not just a loose sandbox. Story progression is structured.

  • /task shows the exact NPC or battle that advances your story.
  • /quest is used for quest-style progression, especially in Alola.
  • /trial handles island challenge checkpoints, while the main story path is driven through /task.
  • /run is your escape valve if you need to back out of wild encounters or certain flows.

Catching And Building Early Teams

Your first upgrades come from wild encounters.

  • Use /location to confirm where you are.
  • Use /spawn to generate wild encounters in that location.
  • Use /spawns if you want to preview what a route can offer.
  • Keep checking /team so you know which slots need upgrades.

The game rewards replacing weak early catches with stronger route finds and story rewards. Do not get attached to your first six unless they are actually carrying fights.

Early Management Commands

Command Use
/location Shows your current route or town.
/locations Shows unlocked travel options and regional movement.
/spawn Opens a wild encounter in your current location.
/spawns Displays the spawn table for a location.
/team Shows your current party and team slots.
/bag Shows your inventory and usable items.
/balance Shows your important currencies.

Common Beginner Mistakes

  • Ignoring /task and wandering without checking what the next required story gate is.
  • Filling the team with favorites only and never checking move coverage.
  • Forgetting that boxed Pokemon are still part of your account value.
  • Spending items too early without checking /bag, /mart, and /iteminfo.

When in doubt, go back to /task, /progress, and /team.
