Journey and Regions

How regional progression works from Kanto through Alola, including gyms, Elite Four runs, quests, and trials.

The Seven Story Regions

PokeOne currently supports seven major story runs:

  • Kanto
  • Johto
  • Hoenn
  • Sinnoh
  • Unova
  • Kalos
  • Alola

Most regions follow a familiar structure: route progress, trainer battles, gyms, Victory Road, Elite Four, champion, then the next region unlock. Alola is different because it uses island trials, grand trials, and a more quest-driven structure instead of badge collecting.

How Region Unlocks Work

Clearing one region is what unlocks the next one. After you finish a champion run, the next starter becomes available through /pick.

That means your account is one long linked journey rather than seven disconnected save files.

Normal Story Checkpoints

For Kanto through Kalos, expect these progression pillars:

  • Route and town battles driven by /task
  • Gym gates and gym leader battles
  • Elite Four progression
  • Champion battles
  • Story rivals, villain bosses, and finale fights

For Alola, expect this instead:

  • Quest activation through island captains and kahunas
  • Objective tracking through /quest
  • Trial access through /trial
  • Grand trial progression instead of badges

Commands For Story Progression

Command Use
/task Shows or launches the exact story step you need next.
/progress Summarizes current region progress, badges or trials, and active task state.
/quest Tracks objective-based quest chains, especially in Alola.
/trial Opens your current island trial when one is active.
/victoryroad Shows Victory Road requirements and challenge status for supported regions.
/badges Shows collected badges or island challenge progress.

Regional Side Systems

Some regions also introduce special structures:

  • Kalos has story-linked Mega Stone rewards tied to gym leaders, Team Flare, and Elite Four members.
  • Alola has a quest book and trial reward structure that behaves differently from badge regions.
  • Older completed regions become valuable for repeatable boss access and account progression, not just one-time completion.
